Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each), skin on or off
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce (or tamari/coconut aminos for gluten-free)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (about 1 large head)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • 2 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  2. Make the honey garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup honey, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, 4 minced garlic cloves, 1 tablespoon olive oil, and 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside about 2 tablespoons of the sauce for brushing later.
  3. Prep the broccoli: Wash and dry 2 cups of broccoli florets. Toss them with 1 tablespoon olive oil, a pinch of salt, and a few cracks of black pepper. Spread them out on one side of the baking sheet.
  4. Season the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides lightly with salt and pepper. Place the fillets skin-side down (if using skin-on) on the other side of the baking sheet.
  5. Brush the salmon with sauce: Using a pastry brush or a spoon, coat each fillet with the reserved honey garlic sauce.
  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork, and the broccoli is tender with slightly charred edges. For medium salmon, aim for an internal temperature of 125°F to 130°F.
  7. Optional: For extra caramelization, switch the oven to broil for 1-2 minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the salmon and broccoli. Drizzle any remaining sauce from the bowl over the top. Serve immediately.

Notes

Pat the salmon dry for better caramelization. Let the salmon rest for 2-3 minutes after baking. For extra glaze, double the sauce and keep some aside for drizzling. If broccoli isn’t done when salmon is, remove salmon and continue roasting broccoli. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days; reheat gently in a 300°F oven.
